No charges against driver after pedestrian dies in West Vancouver

WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. – A 62-year-old pedestrian has been hit and killed in West Vancouver and police say charges will not be laid in her death.

The Coquitlam woman was hit just before 6:30 Wednesday night on a busy section of Marine Drive, just west of Ambleside Park.

She was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

West Vancouver Police say an investigation is continuing but charges are not being considered against the SUV driver who hit the woman.

They say the victim was wearing dark clothing and was not in a marked crosswalk when she stepped into the street.

Her name will not be released.
