Teenage girls arrested after train of violence along transit line

VANCOUVER – Two teenage girls have been arrested after a violent rampage along the SkyTrain line in Metro Vancouver.

Transit Police spokeswoman Anne Dreenan says the incident began at the Gateway Station in Surrey Monday night when the 14- and 15-year-old girls apparently got into a fight with two other women outside the station.

One of the women suffered a minor stab wound before the teens got on the train to New Westminster, where they attacked another woman and then stayed on the train to Joyce Street Station in Vancouver.

There, they attacked a man who was holding a pizza box.

Drennan says the man held up the box to protect himself and suffered a small cut to one finger.

The girls ran from the station, but were later picked up by police, and Drennan says it was difficult to catch them earlier because they kept getting on and off trains along the line. (News1130)
