Raonic and Pospisil to see singles action for Canada in Davis Cup quarter-final

VANCOUVER – Hard-serving singles tennis star Milos Raonic is tabbed to take on Fabio Fognini on the opening day of Canada’s Davis Cup quarter-final against Italy.

Raonic, the world No. 16 from Thornhill, Ont., will play in the second singles rubber.

Vasek Pospisil of Vancouver will meet Andreas Seppi in the opening rubber Friday afternoon at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre at the University of British Columbia.

Pospisil will team up with veteran Daniel Nestor of Toronto in Saturday’s doubles match against Daniele Bracciali and Paolo Lorenzi.

The reverse singles matches are scheduled for Sunday.

Ottawa’s Jesse Levine will replace the injured Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., as the other player on the Canadian team, which is making its first-ever Davis Cup quarter-final appearance.
