Georgia power plant explosion under investigation northwest of Atlanta; no word on injuries

EUHARLEE, Ga. – Fire officials say they’re investigating an explosion at a coal-fired power plant northwest of Atlanta.

Bartow County authorities say they are on the scene Thursday at Plant Bowen in Euharlee. The community is about 50 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.

Georgia Power representatives and fire officials are unsure of if anyone was injured. Details on what led to the explosion were not immediately available.
