Two confirmed dead in house fire in western Quebec; no ages given

THURSO, QUEBEC, – Two people are confirmed dead after a house fire in the Quebec town of Thurso.

Police are not confirming the ages of the victims because investigators say the building is still too hot for them to retrieve the bodies, even though most of the flames are out.

Quebec provincial police Sgt. Marc Tessier said earlier that three adults and three children were able to escape the house but two children were still missing.

He said those who had managed to escape were taken to hospital.

Tessier said the blaze broke out shortly after 5 a.m., and the house was fully engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived.

Thurso is in the Outaouais region in western Quebec.
