Actor Jon Hamm to take on sports world as host of ESPY Awards

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Don Draper is heading from Madison Avenue to the sports world.

Jon Hamm, who stars as the advertising executive on the show “Mad Men,” will host the ESPY Awards on July 17 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

The actor is a sports fan whose favourite teams are the Cardinals and Blues from his hometown of St. Louis.

Hamm says as a fan and “marginally successful high school athlete” he thinks his skill set works well with the host duties. He just has to figure out what cleats to wear with a tuxedo.

This summer, Hamm will star in the baseball drama “Million Dollar Arm” about a sports agent who seeks pro pitching talent through the staging of a reality show in India.

The ESPYS honour the top athletes and moments in sports from last year.
