Fox’s ‘The Following’ is the favoured serial killer drama over NBC’s ‘Hannibal’

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The television audience appears to have made its choice of serial killers. Joe Carroll of Fox’s “The Following” seems more intriguing than Hannibal Lecter on NBC.

Last week’s Nielsen ratings make that clear. Fox’s gruesome series, which debuted in January, had 7.8 million viewers last week, more than any show on the network except for “American Idol.”

Meanwhile, struggling NBC’s hopes that “Hannibal” could trigger a network comeback this spring appear for naught. Last week’s episode had only 2.6 million viewers. It appears unlikely to be on NBC’s schedule when it is presented to advertisers next week.

CBS won the week as a whole, with “NCIS” again TV’s most popular show.
