Man charged with killing wife who disappeared a week ago off Vancouver Island

ALERT BAY, B.C. – A man has been charged with murdering his wife, who disappeared a week ago from her home on a small island off northern Vancouver Island.

Forty-one-year old Jennifer McPherson was reported missing May 1 on Hanson Island, which is south of Port McNeill.

The RCMP say her husband, 37-year-old Traigo Andretti, is now charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody.

Police aren’t saying how McPherson was killed, but they say the murder was committed on Hanson Island.

They say several police units, including forensic investigators, marine officers and a police dog team are continuing to search for evidence on the island.
