85-year-old B.C. man in hospital after beating during home invasion

SAANICH, B.C. – An 85-year-old man remains in hospital after being beaten during a home invasion in Saanich, B.C.

Sgt. Steve Eassie of the Saanich Police Department says the elderly man’s 59-year-old daughter was visiting from out of town on Monday when the suspect forced the front door open at about 10:30 p.m.

Eassie says both of them were knocked to the ground in the living room and that the elderly man suffered bruising and cuts to his head and face.

He says the man’s daughter fled and called police when the suspect walked into another room.
