Police: Multiple deaths in upstate NY crash between tractor-trailer and minivan

TRUXTON, N.Y. – Officials in upstate New York say a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a minivan has killed multiple people.

Cortland County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Mark Helms says the crash occurred Wednesday evening on Route 13 near Truxton, a town about 40 kilometres south of Syracuse.

Helms describes the scene as a “serious physical motor vehicle accident” involving a tractor-trailer and a minivan with numerous occupants.

He says there are survivors who have been taken to hospitals.

Helms says a section of Route 13 has been closed in both directions while police investigate.
