Neil Young, Patti Smith slated to open Ottawa Folk Festival in September

OTTAWA – Neil Young and Patti Smith will kick off the Ottawa Folk Festival in September.

Organizers say Young will perform with Crazy Horse and Smith will play with her band to open the festival on Sept. 4.

Other acts on the five-day bill include singer-songwriters Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, indie outfit Vampire Weekend, rockers the Sheepdogs, and rapper Kendrick Lamar.

The lineup also includes hip-hop artist Shad, singer-songwriter Hayden, and rockers Hey Ocean!

The festival runs through Sept. 8 in Hog’s Back Park.
