Captaintreacherous installed as early 2-1 favourite for North America Cup

CAMPBELLVILLE, Ont. – Captaintreacherous has been installed as the early 2-1 favourite for the $1-million Pepsi North America Cup.

Captaintreacherous’ handlers selected the No. 4 spot in the 10-horse field for the world’s richest pacing event Saturday at Mohawk Racetrack.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Gardiner was the guest drawmaster.

The three Cup elimination races were held Saturday to determine the field, with Captaintreacherous, Vegas Vacation and Fool Me Once all winning their respective races.

Captaintreacherous, North America’s champion two-year-old pacer last year, is the field’s leading money winner with $967,570 and is perfect in two starts this year.

Captaintreacherous is the son of 2008 Cup champion Somebeachsomewhere.
