Mounties identify dead husband and wife found in Surrey, B.C., home

SURREY, B.C. – Police have identified a husband and wife found dead in a Surrey, B.C., home last week.

Mounties visited the Newton-area residence June 19 to check on the well-being of the occupants, but once inside they found the bodies of Dilber Singh Atwal, 49, and Gurpreet Kaur Atwal, 30.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says medical officials will now conduct an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

She says the couple had been married for several years and they leave behind three children.

Pound says the autopsy results won’t be known for several weeks and the family is asking for privacy.
