CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela says a plane that disappeared in January with the CEO of Italy’s iconic Missoni fashion house and five other people on board has been found.
Jorge Galindo is press chief for the Interior and Justice Ministry. He said Thursday via Twitter that the aircraft has the registration number YV2615 and went missing Jan. 4.
The date and ID correspond to the aircraft that disappeared in January while carrying 58-year-old Vittorio Missoni, head of the company. Also aboard were his wife, Maurizia Castiglioni; two of their Italian friends, and two Venezuelan crew members.
A month later two pieces of luggage from the plane washed up on the tiny island of Bonaire.
Last week authorities announced the discovery of the undersea wreckage of another small plane missing since 2008.
