COQUITLAM, B.C. – The RCMP say a teenaged boy is dead after he was swept over a waterfall while swimming near Vancouver.
A news release says the 16-year-old had been swimming above Granite Falls with some friends at the north end of Indian Arm, in Coquitlam, when he was swept over.
The boy fell about 15 metres, leaving him with severe injuries.
Police say witnesses, including off-duty nurses, helped to pull the boy from the water and performed CPR, but he died of his injuries.
The teen’s name hasn’t been released.
