Three dead, one hurt in two separate crashes along Okanagan-area road

OYAMA, B.C. – Three people have been killed in two separate crashes over less than a week along a stretch of road just east of Oyama, B.C.

The latest incident happened Monday afternoon when a pickup truck veered over an embankment on Oyama Lake Road, killing a 17-year-old Lake Country boy at the wheel.

A 17-year-old passenger, a German girl, was critically injured and has been flown to hospital in Vancouver for treatment.

RCMP say both victims were thrown from the pickup and speed may have been a factor because witnesses report the vehicle skidded around a corner moments before veering over the edge.

A man and woman were killed along the same winding section of road, about 40 kilometres north of Kelowna, last Friday when their all-terrain vehicle veered over an embankment during a late night ride.

The coroner has not identified any of the victims. (CKIZ)
