Blue Jays’ Brandon Morrow will have sore right forearm re-examined

TORONTO – Brandon Morrow will be re-examined as the Toronto Blue Jays try to pinpoint exactly what’s wrong with the starting pitcher’s sore right forearm, general manager Alex Anthopoulos said.

Morrow still isn’t feeling 100 per cent almost two months after experiencing discomfort and being placed on the disabled list.

Anthopoulos said the team has done MRIs on the 28-year-old right-hander but all that’s showed up was inflammation.

Morrow has been throwing side sessions in Dunedin, Fla., but is also being rested as trainers and doctors try to pinpoint exactly what’s wrong.

Morrow made 10 starts for Toronto this season, going 2-3 with a 5.63 ERA.

Left-hander J.A. Happ (knee) could be close to returning, with Anthopoulos saying that might happen after one more minor-league rehab start.

Right-hander Kyle Drabek, who’s coming off his second career Tommy John surgery, is doing well while Drew Hutchinson (elbow) and Sergio Santos (triceps) are also making progress, Anthopoulos said.
