Dive teams searching river for missing mother of two dead children

WINNIPEG – The search for a missing mother of two dead children has shifted to a fast-moving river running near the family home.

Winnipeg police have dive teams in the water of the Assiniboine River looking for Lisa Gibson.

The 32-year-old has been missing since Wednesday when her two young children were found in critical condition in their house.

The two-year-old girl and baby boy died in hospital.

Const. Eric Hofley says police are still hopeful Gibson is alive but they have to explore the possibility that she may be in the river.

He says autopsies have been completed on the two children but police aren’t releasing the cause of death.
