BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Like father, like son?
Max Irons, the star of the upcoming Starz series “The White Queen,” jokes about his father Jeremy Irons’ potential reaction to his nudity in the new show.
“Thankfully he hasn’t seen it yet, but if he did I’d refer him to his back catalogue,” the 27-year-old English actor said to laughs Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Max Irons stars as Edward IV during England’s War of the Roses in “The White Queen,” which premieres Aug. 10. His 64-year-old father has had explicit sex scenes in 1988’s “Dead Ringers,” 1992’s “Damage” and most recently in the Showtime series “The Borgias.”
Max Irons spoke about the upcoming 10-episode series live via satellite from England alongside co-star Janet McTeer. Rebecca Ferguson, who plays commoner-turned-Queen Elizabeth Woodville, appeared in person at the event. McTeer portrays her mother in “The White Queen.”
The series, only airing for one season, is adapted from the bestselling books about the Cousins’ War by Philippa Gregory.
