B.C. justice branch says no to transferring Allan Schoenborn to Manitoba
VANCOUVER – Allan Schoenborn, the British Columbia father who killed his three children, will not be transferred to a psychiatric hospital in Manitoba, as he requested.
Schoenborn asked for the transfer at a review board hearing in February, saying his mother could visit him in the facility near Winnipeg.
The review board panel recommended the move, but the B.C. Criminal Justice Branch announced today it has declined its consent.
The branch says that at this time, protection of the public favours Schoenborn remaining at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Port Coquitlam.
Family members said Darcie Clarke, Schoenborn’s ex-wife and mother of the murdered children, opposed the transfer.
Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder for the April 2008 slayings of 10-year-old Kaitlynne, eight-year-old Max and five-year-old Cordon in their Merritt, B.C., home.
