RCMP launches search for overdue Cessna near Kamloops
KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Search-and-rescue officials are in an area near Kamloops, B.C., after a young pilot on a solo flight aboard a Cessna 172 failed to return as expected.
The Mounties say the plane left the airport in Kamloops at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday but hasn’t been seen since.
The coast guard has dispatched a Buffalo search-and-rescue plane and a Cormorant helicopter to help look for the missing aircraft northwest of Kamloops Lake.
Few other details have been released.
David Cruz of TylAir Aviation, a Kamloops-based flight school, says the pilot is an experienced student with more than 60 hours of flying time.
