Canada’s Hearn begins well at PGA Championship, Tiger in the mix

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Canada’s David Hearn is off to a strong start at the PGA Championship.

Hearn sits at 4 under through 15 holes, tied with Jim Furyk.

The native of Brantford, Ont., started with a bogey at No. 1 but bounced back to make birdie on five of the next 10.

Tiger Woods also started well.

The 14-time major champion began on the back side, making the turn with a 2-under 33.

He birdied the par-5 13th hole at Oak Hill, chipping up within inches of the hole for a tap in.

Then, at the par-3 15th, he stuck his tee shot about 10 feet away and made the putt. A couple of nice par saves left him two strokes behind the co-leaders.
