Third-seeded Radwanska defeats Stephens in straight sets at Rogers Cup

TORONTO – Third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland is moving on to the quarter-finals at the Rogers Cup women’s tennis tournament.

She defeated American Sloane Stephens 6-1, 7-6 (2) in third-round play at Rexall Centre.

Top-seeded Serena Williams of the United States will take on Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens later in the afternoon.

Defending champion Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic will face Australia’s Samantha Stosur in the feature evening match.

The US$2.369-million tournament continues through Sunday on the campus of York University.
