Usain Bolt reclaims world championship title in the 100 metres amid steady rain in Moscow

MOSCOW – Usain Bolt reclaimed his 100-meter world championship title Sunday.

The Jamaican great was pushed throughout the race during a steady rain but won back the title he lost two years ago in South Korea when a false start disqualified him from the final.

Bolt, who set the 100 world record of 9.58 seconds at the 2009 worlds in Berlin, won the race at Luzhniki Stadium in 9.77 seconds.

Justin Gatlin of the United States took silver after jumping out to an early lead, and Nesta Carter of Jamaica earned bronze.
