MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – He’s played just five games this season but Ricky Ray already appears to be in mid-season form.
The Toronto Argonauts veteran quarterback stands third overall in passing with 1,355 yards despite missing a game due to a knee injury.
His 11 TD passes are second only to Saskatchewan’s Darian Durant (15) and Ray and Durant are the only CFL starters yet to surrender an interception.
But what really stands out is Ray’s exceptional 76.4 per cent completion average, which is tops among CFL starters.
Ray has certainly found his groove, having completed 34-of-38 passes for 438 yards with five TDs in his last two starts.
That’s certainly not good news for the Edmonton Eskimos, who visit the Argos on Sunday.
Edmonton’s defence will minus all-star linebacker JC Sherritt, who is out indefinitely after recently undergoing successful thumb surgery.
