VANCOUVER – Vancouver police are asking women to be aware of their surroundings after three females were attacked from behind on three separate occasions and in the early morning.
Police say a 24-year-old woman was grabbed from behind by an unknown man while walking in the area of West 18th Avenue and Cambie Street at about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 2.
They say a 23-year-old woman who was walking alone near the intersection of Cambie Street and West 29th Avenue was also grabbed from behind at about 1 a.m. Sept. 5.
Police say the most-recent attack occurred on Sunday at about 1 a.m. when a 19-year-old woman who was walking near Cambie Street and West 55th Avenue was knocked to the ground from behind.
The women screamed and fought back in each incident, and police say the attacker ran away.
Police are describing the suspect as white, and of average height and build, and they say women should remain alert, walk with a friend and a sense of purpose and use well-lit streets.
