Convicted torturer Dustin Paxton high risk to reoffend, hard to treat: Crown
CALGARY – The Crown at a dangerous offender hearing for convicted torturer Dustin Paxton says he is a high risk to reoffend and difficult to treat.
In her final arguments in a Calgary courtroom, Julie Morgan said Paxton has shown a pattern of violence for 20 years.
She said he is unable to control his anger, belittles his victims and uses threats and physicality to obtain his goals.
Morgan said the chances of Paxton being rehabilitated are slim and he cannot be trusted.
Paxton was convicted in 2012 of aggravated and sexual assault involving a former roommate and business partner.
He was charged after a beaten and emaciated man was dropped off at a Regina hospital in 2010.
