Four-country investigation leads to abduction charges against Saskatoon father

SASKATOON – A police investigation spanning four countries has led to charges against a Saskatchewan man of abducting his child.

Investigators allege the father travelled with a Brazilian woman and their two-year-old daughter from Brazil to Ukraine in July.

Police say the man took the little girl and went to the Philippines, where he left her before he returned to Canada.

Saskatoon police were alerted to the situation in August.

Police spokeswoman Kelsie Fraser says authorities from the four countries worked together, which led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man on Friday.

Fraser says the child was found in the Philippines and is in the care of social services in that country.
