DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Canada held on for a 2-2 draw against Austria on Saturday at the under-17 World Cup of soccer.
Toronto’s Elias Roubos scored on a penalty kick in the 58th minute to give the Canadians a 2-1 lead. Jordan Hamilton, also from Toronto, had scored five minutes earlier to tie the game 1-1.
Sascha Horvath gave Austria a 1-0 advantage after 28 minutes of play. Nikola Zivotic scored at the 61st minute for the final 2-2 score.
The Austrians had eight shots on target compared to Canada’s five. Both teams were fairly even on possession, with Austria holding a 52-48 advantage.
