Yaya Toure subjected to racist chanting as Man City beat CSKA Moscow

MOSCOW – Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure called on UEFA to take action against CSKA Moscow after he was subjected to racist chanting during his team’s 2-1 in the Champions League.

Speaking Wednesday after the match in Moscow, the Ivory Coast international said he had told match referee Ovidiu Hategan about the chants during the game.

He said: “I spoke to the referee about it. It was quite disappointing. It was unbelievable and very, very sad to hear songs like that from the crowd.”

Toure added: “I think UEFA need to do something strong. It would be nice if we could stop that.”

City manager Manuel Pellegrini said after the match that “it was a pity and I hope we have the right measures.”
