Canada’s Kaetlyn Osmond withdraws from Skate Canada with hamstring injury
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Canadian Kaetlyn Osmond has withdrawn from Skate Canada International due to a hamstring injury.
The 17-year-old from Marystown, N.L., was fifth after Friday’s short program, but said she woke up Saturday with pain in her hamstring, and could barely put any weight on her leg during the morning practice session.
Osmond said the hamstring injury is a recurring problem.
She’d already been sidelined for all of September after suffering a stress reaction — a precursor to a stress fracture — on the top of her foot, and she and coach Ravi Walia only made the decision last week to compete at Skate Canada.
Osmond, last year’s Skate Canada champion, announced her decision moments before the women skated their long program Saturday.
