Via passenger train collides with vehicle in western Manitoba, no train injuries

GILBERT PLAINS, Man. – A Via passenger train has collided with a vehicle in a small community in western Manitoba.

RCMP say emergency medical technicians and a fire crew responded to the crash Monday afternoon in Gilbert Plains west of Dauphin.

A Via spokeswoman says no one was injured on the train, which was en route from Churchill, Man., to Winnipeg.

There are reports that the driver of the vehicle was slightly injured.

Via says part of the vehicle is wedged underneath the locomotive.

Train passengers were being sent by bus to Winnipeg.
