BC Ferries’ Queen of Nanaimo runs aground at Mayne Island terminal
MAYNE ISLAND, B.C. – The coast guard is assisting after a BC Ferries vessel ran aground at the Village Bay terminal on Mayne Island, but no injuries have been reported.
Coast guard officer John Millman said word about the Queen of Nanaimo colliding with the dock came in just before 11 a.m. Saturday.
He says the incident was described as a soft grounding and that there was no need for any medical help.
Twenty-two crew members and two passengers were aboard the vessel.
The light passenger load is a result of the ferry heading back to its home port on Salt Spring Island after a sailing was cancelled. (CKNW)
