SAINT-JEROME, Que. – A former Quebec doctor has been arraigned on two charges of first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of his two young children.
Guy Turcotte appeared before a judge just north of Montreal today.
The arraignment came one day after Quebec’s highest court ordered a new trial and Turcotte surrendered to police.
He stabbed the children to death in February 2009.
On Wednesday, the Quebec Court of Appeal overturned a 2011 jury verdict of not criminally responsible against Turcotte.
The former cardiologist will be back in court on Jan. 10.
The children’s mother, Isabelle Gaston, was in court for the arraignment this morning.
