BIG BEAVER, Sask. – Rider fans have the power.
About 900 people in two small communities in the southern-most part of Saskatchewan were almost left scrambling to find a television to watch the CFL West final between the Roughriders and the Calgary Stampeders on Sunday.
SaskPower had advertised they would be cutting power to the area around Coronach and Big Beaver on Sunday to do maintenance.
But when residents heard about the planned outage, they flooded the utility with complaints.
“As soon as we recognized the error we took steps to cancel that outage and we are now rescheduling it for a later date,” said SaskPower spokesman Tyler Hopson.
“Typically a Sunday is pretty good because there’s less impact to business and perhaps day-to-day activities, but not this particular Sunday.”
Hopson added they got a few dozen tweets and several phone calls about the outage.
