NHL unveils new reality show for Stadium Series games and Sochi Olympics

NEW YORK, N.Y. – A new NHL reality show, similar to HBO’s “24/7,” will air on CBC beginning in January.

“NHL Revealed: A Season Like No Other” will focus players during the league’s series of outdoor stadium games and the Olympics.

The seven-part series will document the lives of more than two dozen star players on and off the ice.

Cameras will follow the players to Sochi and back, evidence of the deal the league reached to send players to the Olympics that gives it more rights to content.

Some of the players expected to be showcased are Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, Henrik and Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks, Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers, Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings and John Tavares of the New York Islanders.

It will be produced by Toronto-based Bristow Global Media, headed by former CBC executive Julie Bristow.

Ross Greenburg, who was the executive producer of of “24/7: Road to the Winter Classic,” will serve as an executive producer along with Steve Mayer.

After its first run on CBC, the series will be re-broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet.
