‘Outright lie,’ Rob Ford says of new allegations in court document

TORONTO, Cananda – Rob Ford says allegations he offered money and a car to two alleged gang members in exchange for a video are an “outright lie.”

The Toronto mayor made the comment to a Washington-based radio sports talk show.

The scandal-plagued mayor quickly tried to change the topic, saying he agreed to appear on “The Sports Junkies,” a morning show on WJFK-FM, only to talk about football.

A newly-disclosed court document containing summaries of wiretaps says two alleged members of a west-end gang talked about the mayor trying to buy a video.

The conversation came about two months before the Toronto Star and the U.S. website Gawker reported alleged drug dealers were trying to sell a video appearing to show the mayor smoking crack cocaine.

Ford was stripped of most of his mayoral powers last month after admitting to smoking crack cocaine while in a “drunken stupor.”

The documents say police believe they overheard people on wiretaps saying Ford was willing to pay $5,000 and a car in exchange for a video.
