TORONTO – Tyler Bozak will miss an “extended period of time” with an oblique strain, Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said.
Bozak left Tuesday night’s loss to the San Jose Sharks, Toronto’s fifth in a row, and had an MRI on Wednesday. The centre is expected to be placed on injured reserve because of the injury.
Enforcer Colton Orr had a “procedure” on a bursa sac in his elbow and will not play against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night, Carlyle said.
Star winger Phil Kessel will play, according to Carlyle. Kessel left Wednesday’s practice with an undisclosed injury.
Winger Joffrey Lupul (groin) took part in the team’s morning skate and addressed his situation afterward. Lupul did not put a time frame on his return to the lineup, adding that it was too hard to say if he’d play Saturday at the Ottawa Senators.
