4 senior Ukraine officials investigated in crackdown on protest, face house arrest

KIEV, Ukraine – Ukraine’s president has suspended the head of Kyiv city administration and the deputy head of the national security council over the violent police response to a small demonstration.

President Viktor Yanukovych’s move on Saturday followed closely after Ukraine’s prosecutor-general announced that those officials and two others were being investigated on suspicion of abuse of office and will soon be placed under house arrest.
