Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre to make Canadian debut in Prescott, Ont.

PRESCOTT, Ont. – The renowned Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre from London will make its Canadian debut in Prescott, Ont., in August.

The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival says the Globe will present two performances of “Hamlet” there on Aug. 2.

It will mark the first time the Globe has ever performed in Canada.

It will also be the only Canadian stop on its two-year Globe to Globe tour of “Hamlet.”

Shakespeare founded the London company and created its famous theatre.

The St. Lawrence festival, which has been professionally producing Shakespeare’s plays since 2003, says the Globe chose it because of its unique waterfront amphitheatre.

Tickets for “Hamlet” at the St. Lawrence festival will go on sale April 23 at 10 a.m. ET.
