Climate change producers say actors, Republicans crucial to Showtime series

PASADENA, Calif. – Producers of an upcoming Showtime series on global warming say it was crucial to get celebrities and Republicans involved in the project.

Producer David Gelber said Thursday that actors attract necessary attention, and Republicans help break down the tribalism that has developed on the issue.

The series, “Years of Living Dangerously,” begins on April 13 and features celebrities and journalists travelling the world to illustrate stories on the impact of the Earth’s warming.

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a prominent Republican who’s involved, and he follows the story on what climate change means for wildfires. Matt Damon, Jessica Alba and Don Cheadle also participate.
