EDMONTON – A Grade 6 class has taken Alberta’s top politicians to task for childish behaviour.
Innisfail Middle School has sent a letter to the legislature saying students will no longer attend question period after watching repeated displays of rudeness, name-calling and offensive language.
The school says all parties are at fault, but kids were particularly appalled over the behaviour of two of Premier Alison Redford’s cabinet ministers.
It says the kids’ jaws dropped when Service Alberta Minister Doug Griffiths mocked the Opposition Wildrose for its — quote — “ability to suck and blow.”
And the students said Jobs Minister Thomas Lukaszuk (loo-KAH’-zuhk) made a gesture to challenge the Wildrose party to a fistfight.
The Innisfail school principal says one student in a mock parliament held after the legislature visit asked if he could play Lukaszuk and challenge the other side to drop the mitts.
