Manitoba defensive tackle Onyemata moves atop CFL scouting bureau list

TORONTO – Manitoba defensive tackle David Onyemata tops the CFL scouting bureau’s final top-20 prospect list for next month’s draft.

The six-foot-four, 300-pound Onyemata was second behind Iowa receiver Tevaun Smith in December. Smith fell to No. 2 on the latest list.

Boston College defensive tackle Mehdi Abdesmad is ranked No. 3 ahead of Michigan State defensive back Arjen Colquhoun. Abdesmad was ranked fourth in December behind Colquhoun.

Josiah St. John, an offensive lineman at Oklahoma, is No. 5 after standing third in December.

Rounding out the top-10 are Laval offensive lineman Charles Vaillancourt, Montana State linebacker Alex Singleton, Virginia defensive lineman Trent Corney, Laval offensive lineman Philippe Gagnon and Acadia receiver Brian Jones, who was ranked 18th in December.

Onyemata, Smith, Abdesmad, Colquhoun and Corney have also garnered interest leading up to this week’s NFL draft, which begins Thursday in Chicago and concludes Saturday.
