Kelowna ComiCon back in action this weekend

Thousands of collectors, cosplayers and comic fans are expected to flock to Kelowna ComiCon this weekend.

There’s going to be a cosplay contest, a live Dungeons and Dragons show, lip-sync battle, panels, celebrity guests and of course vendors with all kinds of comics and collectibles.

“Check out our amazing lineup of artists and vendors this year, from Pokemon cards, comics to amazing new art to hang above your fireplace. The vendors and artists at Kelowna ComiCon will have everything you’re looking for,” ComiCon said in an announcement.

There will also be opportunities for people who want to get into the creative field around comics.

There’s a panel on cosplaying on a budget for folks who want to take their costumes to the next level without breaking the bank, and a creative careers panel with artists John and Rynn Gallagher.

“This year, I’m pushing myself to be more engaged with the art community,” Rynn said in a statement online. “We’ll be happily chatting about all the ups and downs of living as an artist in our current world, with the unique lens of being a multi-generational artistic family.”

Kelowna ComiCon will be held at MNP Place at 4105 Gordon Drive this weekend, June 27 and 28. Tickets are still available online for $30 to $45.
