iN NUMBERS: City employees make more than mayors in Okanagan, Kamloops

It’s that time of year again.

No, we’re not talking about summer or pride, it’s time for the annual reminder of how much unelected city leaders get paid.

In most cities the city manager or the chief administrative officer are the highest paid employees.

Here are the numbers:

• 154,663: Dollars. That’s how much Kelowna’s mayor Tom Dyas made in 2025.
• 373,852: Dollars. That’s how much Kelowna city manager Doug Gilchrist was paid in 2025.
• 88,345: Dollars. That’s how much Penticton’s mayor Julius Bloomfield made in 2025.
• 277,372: Dollars. That’s how much Penticton city manager Anthony Haddad was paid in 2025.
• 121,729: Dollars. That’s how much Vernon’s mayor Victor Cumming made in 2025.
• 258,485: Dollars. That’s how much former Vernon chief administrative officer Peter Weeber made in 2025. He left the city to work in Delta in October.
• 81,046: Dollars. That’s how much Kamloops mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson made in 2025, but his paycheque is more complicated than the rest.
• 325,824: Dollars. That’s how much Kamloops’ chief administrative officer Byron McCorkell was paid in 2025.
• 124: Million dollars. That’s how much the City of Kelowna spent on payroll in 2025.
• 90: Million dollars. That’s how much the City of Kamloops spent on payroll in 2025.
