NSL-leading Ottawa Rapid FC stay hot with 3-1 win over Calgary Wild FC

OTTAWA — Ottawa Rapid FC built a 2-0 halftime lead and never looked back in a 3-1 win over Calgary Wild FC on Sunday in Northern Super League action.

Keera Melenhorst, Johanne Fridlund and Jazmine Wilkinson scored for the league-leading Rapid (7-2-1), who extended their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).

Ottawa hasn’t lost a game since May 23, a 2-1 defeat against Montreal.

Meggie Dougherty Howard scored for last-place Calgary (0-7-2).

AFC Toronto 1 Halifax 0

HALIFAX — Kaylee Hunter scored the lone goal in the 12th minute as AFC Toronto earned a 1-0 win over Halifax Tides FC.

Toronto (4-2-3) extended its unbeaten run to five games (3-0-2) with the win, and sits in third in the six-team league standings.

Halifax (4-4-2) had its three-game unbeaten streak halted and sits in fourth.
