The search for a missing man in Mara Lake came to an end after police found his body.
The Sicamous RCMP received a report about a missing person after friends on a boat realized that someone was unaccounted for at 8:13 p.m. Friday, July 10, according to a press release from police.
Police searched all weekend but were unable to find the man until the RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team brought in a towable sonar device.
“While this is a tragic outcome, we hope the recovery of the missing man brings some closure to his family and friends. Our thoughts remain with them during this difficult time,” Sicamous RCMP commander Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a press release.
This news comes shortly after a man drowned in Okanagan Lake while tubing without a lifejacket.
