‘Canada Shore’ cast surprise customers at Kelowna brewery for country swing night

They seemed like any other group of friends at a brewery in Kelowna, except for the cameramen and boom mic operators.

Jersey Shore spin-off Canada Shore is in the midst of filming its second season in Kelowna.

It’s a reality show about 10 rowdy 20-somethings spending a summer in the Okanagan and they showed up to Red Bird Brewing’s country swing night on July 15.

If you walked in after the cast arrived you would have been greeted by a sign with a lengthy legal disclosure. The sign explains that by walking into the bar you are giving the show’s producer Paramount permission to film you for the show and that you won’t be getting paid to be a background extra.

Someone working with the production team went around to everyone at the brewery to ask them to scan a QR code and give permission to include their face in the show. Those who didn’t sign the release were told their face would be blurred in editing.

The Canada Shore cast also stopped in at the BC Lions’ games for Touchdown Kelowna earlier this month, and some of the team weren’t thrilled with the guests.

Some neighbours of the mansion housing the cast in the McKinley neighbourhood sent out letters opposed to the filming of the show when production started.

Kelowna has become a bit of a hub for reality shows with The Amazing Race Canada airing episodes filmed in the area, and the Okanagan was the choice for the Netflix reality show Million Dollar Secret.
