TORONTO — Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:

Inflation

Statistics Canada will release its latest inflation figures on Monday when it publishes the consumer price index for June. The annual inflation rate rose to 3.2 per cent in May, pushed higher by gasoline prices. Excluding gasoline, the consumer price index in May was still up at 2.2 per cent compared with a year ago.

Roots meeting

Retailer Roots Corp. will hold its annual meeting of shareholders on Tuesday morning. The company launched a strategic review in March to find ways to maximize value for shareholders including a possible sale of the retailer.

Rogers earnings

Rogers Communications Inc. will release its second-quarter results on Wednesday morning. The company announced earlier this month a deal to buy the 25 per cent stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment it does not already own from Kilmer Sports Inc. for $4.35 billion.

Teck results

Teck Resources Ltd. will release its second-quarter earnings results before market open on Thursday. The federal government announced a deal earlier this month to invest up to $400 million into Teck’s critical minerals processing operations in southern B.C.

CN results

Canadian National Railway Co. will publish its second-quarter results before markets open on Friday. The railway was forced to suspend operations near Armstrong, Ont., last week due to wildfires in the area.
