West Kelowna RCMP are looking for someone who was seen around three suspicious fires over the weekend.

There were three fires on July 18, a porta-potty, a gazebo and a grass fire, according to a press release from police.

West Kelowna RCMP and West Kelowna Fire Department received a call about a suspicious fire involving a porta-potty around 4:25 a.m. in the 3100-block of Shannon Lake Road. The fire was spreading to a nearby building when firefighters brought it under control.

Police investigated and found that a fire had been set at a gazebo within the park, but three men passing by put it out before it spread.

The men who put the fire out reported seeing another man walking away from the area where the porta-potty fire was.

The man has been described as tall, wearing dark clothing with “weird hair.”

Soon after, police and witnesses spotted a grass fire along Old Okanagan Highway. Police said the fire seemed to be intentional, but firefighters quickly extinguished it.

“Fortunately, these fires were detected and extinguished quickly before causing significant damage,” West Kelowna media officer Cpl. Devon Gerrits said in the release. “We are asking anyone who may have information about these incidents to come forward and assist investigators.”
